Timothy

Timothy

Timothy, one of St. Paul's close companions, was sent to Ephesus to teach and preach when the church was being influenced by false teachings (1 Timothy 1:3,4). The false teachers were causing divisions, disputes and dissension in the church.

St. Paul in his letter to Timothy, defines the purpose of his instruction to the people of Ephesus, wishing for all believers to be filled with the love of Christ. He urged them to strive to have a pure heart, good conscience and sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5).
