Redeemed for His Glory

From Redemption to Glory

Reflecting on Ephesians 1:7-12

In the intricate tapestry of Ephesians 1:7-12, the Apostle Paul weaves together profound truths about God's redemptive plan and the purpose behind it. As we delve into this passage, we embark on a journey of discovery, uncovering the depth of God's love and the significance of our role in His divine purpose.

Redemption Through Christ's Blood

At the heart of Ephesians 1:7 lies the foundational truth of redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ. Paul declares, "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace." This proclamation resonates with the resounding truth that our sins are forgiven, and we are reconciled to God through the sacrificial death of Christ. Our redemption is not a transaction based on our merit but a gift of grace bestowed upon us lavishly by a loving and merciful God.

The Mystery of His Will Revealed

Moving deeper into Ephesians 1:9-10, Paul unveils the mystery of God's will, which is now made known through Jesus Christ. He writes, "And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ." Here, we glimpse the grandeur of God's redemptive plan, designed to bring unity and reconciliation to all creation under the lordship of Christ. As believers, we are called to align our lives with this divine purpose, actively participating in God's work of restoration and renewal.

Chosen and Predestined According to His Purpose

Ephesians 1:11 illuminates the believer's identity as chosen and predestined by God according to His sovereign will. Paul writes, "In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will." This divine election underscores the intimate relationship we have with our Heavenly Father and emphasizes His sovereign plan for our lives. Understanding that we are chosen should humble us and compel us to live lives that reflect the character of Christ, bringing glory to His name.

For the Praise of His Glory

Finally, Ephesians 1:12 encapsulates the purpose behind God's redemptive plan, stating, "In order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory." As recipients of God's grace, we are called to live lives that magnify His glory. Our transformed lives serve as a testimony to His goodness and grace, drawing others to Him and bringing praise to His name.

Corrie Ten Boom: A Testimony to God's Redemptive Grace

Corrie Ten Boom's life serves as a poignant example of God's redemptive grace in action. Amidst the darkness of World War II, Corrie and her family risked their lives to shelter Jews from the horrors of the Holocaust. Despite facing capture and internment in concentration camps, Corrie's faith remained unshaken. In the depths of despair, she shared the love of Christ with her fellow prisoners, offering hope and forgiveness in the midst of unimaginable suffering. Released miraculously, Corrie dedicated her life to spreading the message of redemption and forgiveness around the world, inspiring millions with her story of faith and resilience.

Living Redeemed Lives for His Glory

In conclusion, Ephesians 1:7-12 reminds us of the incredible privilege and responsibility we have as believers. We are redeemed, chosen, and predestined by God for His glory. May we live each day with hearts overflowing with gratitude, striving to honor God in all that we do, and to bring praise to His glorious name. As we reflect on the richness of God's grace and the depth of His love, let us embrace our identity as redeemed children of God, walking in obedience and proclaiming His goodness to the world.

Soli Deo Gloria
