A Celtic Evening Prayer of Reflection and Gratitude
O Christ, Light of the world,
As the sun sinks and the shadows lengthen,
I lift my heart to You.
The day is done, its work completed,
And I place it in Your hands.
For the moments of joy, I give thanks.
For the burdens carried, I surrender them.
For the kindness received, I remember.
For the words spoken in haste, I seek Your mercy.
O Lord, You have been my guide,
Though I have not always followed.
You have been my strength,
Though I have often relied on my own.
You have been my refuge,
Though I have wandered.
Yet still, Your love surrounds me.
Still, Your grace sustains me.
Still, Your mercy welcomes me home.
As the stars take their watch,
Guard my soul through the night.
Let no fear disturb my rest,
No regret trouble my sleep.
Shelter me in the peace of Your presence.
Shield me from all harm.
Renew my body, refresh my spirit,
And awaken me to another day in Your grace.
I rest now in Your faithfulness, O Lord.
You were with me in the morning,
You are with me now,
And You will be with me always.
In the name of the Father,
And of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit,
One God, now and forever.
Amen.
