A Celtic Morning Prayer of Gratitude and Surrender

 

O Christ, Bright Sun of the morning,

I rise this day by the light of Your grace,

The warmth of Your mercy upon my face,

And the strength of Your Spirit within my soul.

 

Before the first footstep is taken,

Before the first word is spoken,

I bow my heart before You, Lord,

And offer this day into Your hands.

 

For the rising sun and the breath in my lungs,

I give You thanks.

For the mercies new with the dawn,

I lift my voice in praise.

For the tasks before me, the joys and the burdens,

I surrender all into Your keeping.

 

 Guard my mind, that my thoughts be pure.

Guard my tongue, that my words be kind.

Guard my hands, that my labor be holy.

Guard my feet, that they walk in Your way.

 

Let not the worries of the day overtake me,

Nor the fears of the unknown shake me.

Let me hear Your voice above all others,

That I may move in step with Your will.

 

 Great is Your faithfulness, O Lord of my life!

In You I am held, in You I am guided,

In You I am made new.

 

I arise this day in the name of the Father,

I arise this day in the name of the Son,

I arise this day in the name of the Holy Spirit,

One God, forever and ever.
